The promoter of the troubled Electric Daisy Carnival rave last month, where a 15-year-old who later died apparently took ecstasy, is moving to an 18-and-older format for his next big event, the Audiotistic Festival July 24 at the National Orange Show Events Center San Bernardino.

“What he’s doing for the first time is he’s going to 18-and-over,” Dan Jimenez, general manager of the Orange Show venue, told LA Weekly. “He felt bad that someone of that age was there.”

Electric Daisy Carnival drew as many as 200,000 people over two days and marketed itself as an event for those 16-and-older, but a source who worked at the event told the Weekly that IDs were not checked.

We are now only 46 days away from the Electric Daisy Festival. So I just thought I’d share the official EDC Commercial with you. This year is going to be insane!

EDC brought in a reported 135,000 people both days combined! Making EDC one of the largest events of its kind.

“It was a great experience for us, and we saw the benefits on many fronts,” Rotella said of the addition of a second day, during a telephone conversation. “But from a production point of view the two-day EDC works much better. It was always a shame for me that in the past we’d get really involved in a show — picking the art installations, setting up the stage production and sound — and then when the crowd arrived, it was a 12-hour rush for everyone to experience it all and get their groove on. With a two-day festival, people have time to take it all in.”

“This year there’s a lot more ground,” said Rotella. “We’ve had the same basic layout for the past three years, but this time there’s a bigger footprint. We’ll have two main stages — an A Stage and a B stage — and are using a lot of area that we haven’t used before. Last year was a little too crowded on Saturday — Friday was perfect. I don’t like it when people are bumping elbows the whole time. With this new footprint, people will be able to breathe.”

So as some of you may have already heard, EDC “Electric Daisy Carnival” 2010 now closes at 2am both Friday and Saturday. I still haven’t confirmed exactly the reason for this but from what i’ve heard Los Angeles is passing a new law this year which causes all events in the LA area to close at 2am. Also on top of that EDC now as an age limit, 16 and up to enter. I’ll add an update about this post when I find out more info! I also will be posting the full EDC line up as soon as its released!
